Four people, including a Boonville resident, were arrested after the Indiana State Police uncovered an indoor marijuana-growing operation.
Troopers executed a search warrant at 4213 Saddlebrook Lane in Evansville on Thursday, Feb. 7 at approximately 12:15 p.m.
An investigation by law enforcement revealed drug activity in the residence, resulting in troopers obtaining a search warrant for the premises.
The search resulted in the discovery of 15 marijuana plants — all less than three feet tall with a street value of approximately $15,000 — and Oxycontin.
The plants were under high-intensity grow lights, but troopers also found processed and packaged marijuana.
Those arrested include the homeowner, 53-year-old Sheila Morton; her son, 25-year-old Timothy Morton; and two guests, Kasie Schoenbaechler, 23, of Boonville; and Thomas Dycus, 22, of Evansville.
Sheila Morton was charged with cultivating marijuana over 30 grams, a class D felony; dealing marijuana under 30 grams, a class D felony; dealing Oxycontin within 1,000 feet of a school, a class A felony; and maintaining a common nuisance, a class D felony.
Timothy Morton was charged with maintaining a common nuisance, a class D felony.
Schoenbaechler was charged with possession of schedule II controlled substance (Oxycontin), a class C felony; and visiting a common nuisance, a class B misdemeanor. Dycus was charged with visiting a common nuisance, a class B misdemeanor.
All four were taken to Vanderburgh County Jail.
