Mt. Carmel Library passes new policy: children under 10 must be accompanied by an adult
Posted: Wednesday, Jun 25, 2008 - 02:30:36 pm EDT

The Mt. Carmel Public Library Board has passed a policy that all children less than 10 years of age must, at all times, be accompanied by an adult while in the library.

It is also now required that a contact phone number be given to an employee at the front desk when leaving children over the age of 10 unattended. This policy has been instated by the library board for the protection and safety of children.

The Mt. Carmel Library would like to remind its patrons that the library does not have a drop box for books. Do not leave your items in the mail box. A federal law exists that prohibits items, other than mail delivered by the post office, to be left in a mail box.

Books left outside the door are in danger of theft and/or water damage. If this should occur, the patron will be charged for the price of a new book.

The library is open seven days a week, so there is plenty of opportunity for books to be returned in a just manner. Library hours are: Monday-Thursday, 11 a.m.-7 p.m.; Friday-Saturday, 11 a.m.-5:30 p.m.; Sunday 1 p.m.-5:30 p.m.

The Mt. Carmel Public Library will be closed on the Fourth of July. Regular Saturday hours will resume on July 5.
