The Chrisney Golf Course’s Eighteen Hole Sunday Golf Scramble was held July 20. Ron Kendall, Wally Moninger, Steve Poole and Dave Underhill took home first place with 57. Tied for second place with 59 was Kenny Blissett, Chris Burroughs, Kerry Dougan, Andy Fischer, Kevin Mathis, Ted Meece and Bub Summers.
Indiana Earthquake Gold 18U softball team finished 9-2 and in fourth place in the USFA Class A World Series in Panama City Beach, Fla. The team was ousted by the Tennessee Xplosion Gold 4-0 after stringing off five consecutive victories to get to the final four. Castle pitcher Sam Meyer threw 34 innings for the Quake and recorded each decision.
Newburgh Youth Soccer is still taking registrations for the fall soccer season. Leagues are available for boys and girls ages 4 to 18 and adults. Registration forms are available at www.newburghyouthsoccer.com. On-site registration will be held on Saturday, Aug. 2 from 9 a.m. to noon at the Amax Soccer Fields. Boonville Youth Soccer will be holding a late registration for its Fall Rec season. Late registration will take place Aug. 2 from 9 to 11 a.m. at the fields at Boonville Junior High School. Tryouts for the Castle boys soccer team will be held Aug. 4 through 8 at the high school fields from 7 to 8:30 a.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. each day. Players should wear cleats and shinguards and bring running shoes and water. Call 858-1104 from more information.
Tryouts for 16U Heartbreakers Class A travel softball team, coached by Sam Hart, will be held Aug. 9 and 10 at 7 p.m. at Vann Park in Newburgh. Wesselman’s Golfing Fore Kids to benefit Easter Seals, a scramble for adult golfers, will be held Thursday, Sept. 18 at Quail Crossing in Boonville.
Golfers will choose between morning and afternoon shotgun starts at 7:30 a.m. and 1 p.m., with an awards dinner at 6 p.m. Special activities include the chance to win prizes by out-driving the event’s honorary chairman, USI Head Basketball Coach Rick Herdes. Other fun contests will give golfers the chance at additional prizes.
Entry fees, which include breakfast and/or lunch, plus the awards dinner, are: $500 for a team of four golfers; $150 individually; $600 for a team of four golfers plus hole sponsorship; or $150 for a hole sponsorship. Registration with payment is due by Aug. 22. All proceeds will provide therapy for children and adults with disabilities at the Easter Seals Rehabilitation Center in Evansville.
