Marching Knights host invitational

Castle High School continued its march to state finals the past two weeks by taking part in scattered competitions.

The Castle Marching Knights competed at the Reitz High School invitational on Saturday, Sept. 13 and then at the North Posey High School invitational on Saturday, Sept. 20.

Assistant Director of Bands Faril Bunner said the band marched and played very well at Reitz.

“They actually performed really well at that show,” he said.

The band knew they could do better as soon as they marched off the field at North Posey, though, said Bunner.

“We had just put on a new ending this past week,” he said. “We hadn’t performed it yet and it is actually pretty difficult. It was a big challenge and a big shoot for the stars.”

Castle will be doing something they haven’t done in a long time and that is march a double-header on Saturday, Sept. 27.

Not only will the band be operating their own invitational contest, but they will be performing at the North High School invitational — located at Central High School — later that night. That performance is set to begin at 9:04 p.m.

“That is exactly what we need right now,” said Bunner. “It’s more performing in front of audience members and adjudicators.”
