Two Boonville boys were killed in a head-on vehicle crash on Thursday, Nov. 6, marking the 10th fatality caused by a vehicle this year in Warrick County.
According to police reports, a 1991 Geo Metro, driven by 18-year-old Eddie Arriago Jr., of Boonville, was traveling southbound on S.R. 261 near Rolling Ridge at approximately 4:20 p.m.
The vehicle crossed the center line and collided with a construction truck, driven by Charles Davis, of Newburgh.
Arriago and passenger, 17-year-old Andrew Hatfield, of Boonville, were both pronounced dead at the scene. A third juvenile passenger in the Metro, 15-year-old Zackery Arriago, was transported to St. Mary’s Hospital in Evansville. His condition is unknown.
Davis was also transported to St. Mary’s Hospital in Evansville, with unknown condition.
“This crash is a terrible tragedy for everyone involved and the Sheriff’s Office would like to remind everyone to drive with caution at all times,” said Chief Deputy Brett Kruse.
It is unknown at this time what caused Arriago to cross the center line.
This crash marks the fourth teenage death resulting from a vehicle crash this year.
