Pocket change to make a change
Mt. Carmel High School Student Council members recently organized a pocket change drive to support Mt. Carmel Middle School's effort toward restoring or replacing items damaged, lost and destroyed in a recent vandalism. MCHS students donated $300 in pocket change. While every class gave change, Ryan Haywood's third-hour health class donated the most money with an average of over $10 per student; they were treated to a pizza party during their third-hour class. With an eye toward service to the community, the Mt. Carmel High School Student Council members recently organized a pocket change drive to support Mt. Carmel Middle School's effort toward restoring or replacing items damaged, lost and destroyed after a January vandalism.

In a touching demonstration of compassion and community spirit, Mt. Carmel High School students generously poured change from their pockets to reach a total fundraising effort of $300, which was patiently counted by the Savage family and verified by the employees of First National Bank in Mt. Carmel.

The money was collected during third hour classes each day during the week of Jan. 29.

While every class gave pocket change, Mr. Ryan Haywood's third hour health class donated the most money, with an average of over $10 per student.

These students were treated to a pizza party during their third hour class.

School officials also recognize Mr. Waggoner's Spanish III and IV classes, and Mr. Seaton's chorus class, who nearly had the pizza.

The spirit of giving on behalf of all Mt. Carmel faculty and students surpassed the modest goal the student council members anticipated.

Everyone who worked to make this drive a success made a change with just a little extra pocket change.

Welcome to the discussion.
