A suspect who had been a fugitive facing several meth-related allegations in Mt. Carmel has been arrested and is being held in Wabash County Jail on $300,000 bond set Wednesday in a brief appearance before Circuit Judge Stephen G. Sawyer.

According to Wabash County State's Attorney Christopher M. Quick, defendant Terry D. Eads Jr., 39, of Mt. Carmel was arrested last Friday by city police after allegedly fleeing from the scene an alleged working meth lab where two other suspects were arrested on Sept. 1.

Eads, who had been a fugitive for two weeks, was found last Friday after a police served a search warrant ordered by Judge Sawyer at the request of the state's attorney.

State's Attorney Quick said Eads allegedly escaped arrest on Sept. 1 when two other individuals were charged, when he alleged went out a window of the mobile home where police alleged meth-making was in progress, according to the allegations.

In court proceedings Wednesday, Special Public Defender Jason Barnhart was appointed to represent Eads and a preliminary hearing was set for Oct. 23 at 1 p.m.

State's Attorney Quick said Eads is facing seven meth-related charges, which are identical to allegations also made against two other individuals who were arrested in Mt. Carmel on Sept. 1.

Also arrested were Jason C. Koberstein, 33, of Evansville, who remains on custody on $150,000 bail. Wabash County Public Defender Cassandra Goldman was appointed to represent the defendant after probable cause was found in the case and arraignment scheduled in Wabash County Circuit Court on Oct. 23 at 11 a.m.

The third defendant facing seven meth-related allegations is Heather N. Eads, 21, of Hutsonville, Ill., who has posted $20,000 bond and has been released from custody since her arrest on Sept. 1.

Attorney John Farrar was appointed on Sept. 12 to represent the defendant and an arraignment set for Oct. 23 at 1 p.m. after probable cause was found in a Sept. 25 preliminary hearing.

As part of her release on bond, special conditions were placed on defendant Heather Eads that she must remain at all times at the home of her mother in Hutsonville and was not to have visitors other than immediate family members.
