SHOCAP III, "Romancing the Gospels," will be presented Sunday, Jan. 21, at 2 p.m. in the Brubeck Theatre at Wabash Valley College.

This production will feature a sampling of various types of religious music, including American gospels, African-American gospels, classical and contemporary Christian music. Mulberry Jam, Fifth Street Revival, Amanda Gill, Jackie Summers and Arthur Lockamy and Shannon Kelly from Washington, D.C., will be featured performers.

Arthur Lockamy is a well-known gospel singer from the Washington, D.C. area. Shannon Kelly, also from Washington, D.C., is a Cantor with the St. Matthew's Cathedral Choir and is a featured soloist with the Bach Consort.

Evening Reporting, one of the programs supported by the SHOCAP musical afternoons, successfully graduated seven students this first semester. These are local funds supporting local students to learn skills to be successful.

SHOCAP stands for "Serious Habitual Offender Community Action Plan," and represents an effort by our state legislature to help communities work more effectively to reduce repeated unlawful behavior by juveniles (kids under 17) and prevent juveniles at risk for such behavior from getting involved in illegal activity in the first place.
