Director describes ever-changing climate of the funeral business

Posted: Wednesday, February 15, 2012 10:11 am

Natalie Hodgson of Short-Cunningham Funeral Homes was the speaker for the morning at the regular Retail Merchants Committee meeting Tuesday at Hogg Heaven. Natalie has a degree from Southern Illinois University-Carbondale in Mortuary Science, and is a full-time funeral director at the local funeral home.

She likes that every day is different when it comes to her line of business. Short-Cunningham Funeral Homes has been in business since 1916, as Short Funeral Home, and the two merged into one in the early 1990s. Natalie also enjoys that the funeral home and staff adapt and change as funeral traditions change along the way as well.
