Mt. Carmel defeats Lawrenceville, 13-8

Mt. Carmel's 11-year-old All Stars defeated Lawrenceville Tuesday night, 13-8, in a District Tournament elimination game.

Mt. Carmel will now lay Robinson at 7 p.m. today (Wednesday) in another elimination game. Robinson lost to Olney, 3-2. The winner of the Mt. Carmel-Robinson game will play Olney at 7 p.m. Thursday for the title. The "if Necessary" game will be at 7 p.m. Friday.

Mt. Carmel led all the way, starting with a three-run first. Thomas Allen singled with one down, and Austin Thompson homered. Parker Wilkinson singled and advanced on an error. He later scored on a passed ball.

The score went to 4-0 in the top of the third. Kyle Jones singled with one down, and moved up as Austin Rue doubled. Jones scored on an error.

Lawrenceville cut it to 4-2 in its third. Seed doubled, then Shoulders singled with one down. A ground out got one run home, then a wild pitch scored the other.

But Mt. Carmel scored seven in the fourth to all but seal the win. Sean Moore drew a walk and Beau Johnson reached base on an error. Allen walked, the Thompson was safe on an error. Jones, Rue and Brandon Stoneberger all singled with one down. Moore drew a two-out walk, as did Johnson.

Thompson walked and scored in the fifth to make it a 12-2 game.

Lawrenceville narrowed it to 12-5 in its fifth Seed was safe on an error, then Hart reached base. After Shoulders doubled, a ground out got a run home, and Clark was safe on a one-out error with another run scoring.

Torin Lee reached base on an error and scored in the sixth to finish out Mt. Carmel's scoring.

Lawrenceville added three in its sixth.

Jones and Rue both had three hits for Mt. Carmel with Allen getting two.

Shoulders had two for Lawrenceville.
