The Mt. Carmel baseball Golden Aces took a 2-1 decision from the Vincennes Rivet Patriots Monday.

The Aces won the game in the sixth on back-to-back two-out doubles by Tyler Browning and Kyle Buss.

Mt. Carmel took a 1-0 lead in the second as Steven Alka homered to lead of the Aces half of the inning. Rivet tied it in the fourth as Corey Montgomery singled, Jonathan Hatter walked, and Mitchell Bahr delivered a one-out double. Another runner was out at the plate.

"That was a huge play for us," said Coach Aaron Piening.

Jacob Deisher was on the hill for Mt. Carmel. He gave up three hits and two walks in going the distance. Deisher struck out 12.

Matt Igle pitched for Rivet. He gave up the two runs, both earned, on five hits with nine strike outs.

"Deisher was awesome; he kept them off balance all game. It's great to see him do that. Anytime your pitcher can get 12 strike outs it makes it easier for the defense," said Piening.

"It was nice to see Tyler Browning finally have some great at-bats. We need him to hit," the coach added.

Browning was two for three with the double and the winning run scored.

Alka was one for three with the home run and Buss was one for three with the double. Both Alka and Buss had an RBI.

However, Piening admitted he is not satisfied. "We have a TON of work to do," he said.
