PRINCETON-A city man was arraigned Monday and faces several counts from a weekend drug bust, in which police say they seized a working meth lab in a rural Princeton field.
Dickie J. Coomer, 28, is charged with felony counts of manufacturing a schedule II controlled substance; dealing in methamphetamine; possession of meth; possession of a chemical with the intent to manufacture; possession of anhydrous ammonia with the intent to manufacture; dumping a controlled substance; and a misdemeanor charge of illegal storage of anhydrous ammonia.
According to court records, police were called late Sunday morning by residents in southeast Princeton to a field near South Adams Street, near Madison and Evans streets, to investigate reports of a suspicious person.
According to witnesses, area neighbors became suspicious after seeing a man out in a field carrying a trash bag. Officers arrived at the scene and found Coomer hiding in a nearby ditch.
When officers approached Coomer, police said they were able to immediately smell anhydrous ammonia, saw the meth lab and placed the suspect under arrest.
A lab team found various items commonly associated with meth production, including two HCL generators that later tested positive for anhydrous ammonia, hydrochloric acid, salt, coffee filters, camp fuel and digital scales .
Also found was a baggie containing a white rocky substance which field tested positive for meth, police said.
Coomer is being held in the Gibson County Jail on $5,000 cash only bond. He is next scheduled to appear in court on Aug. 20.
