EVANSVILLE-An Evansville man was arrested Saturday and charged with four counts of child exploitation and one count of possession of child pornography after a multi-agency, international investigation that began in September 2004.
According to an Indiana State Police press release, local police in Colburg, Germany conducting a child pornography investigation discovered a German citizen had possibly exchanged images of child pornography with an Evansville man.
After further investigation, police said they were able to identify the Evansville man who had possibly transmitted the child pornography as Robert Jason Racine, 21, of 7149 Forest Green.
After being contacted by Interpol, Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials in Indianapolis working with investigators from the ISP's Crimes Against Children Unit, interviewed Racine at his Evansville home November 2004 and found one image of child pornography in a computer at his home, according to police.
Although Racine was not immediately arrested, two computers were seized from his residence and police said these contained numerous child pornography images.
Evidence Racine had allegedly transmitted at least four child pornographic images to Germany via the Internet was also later found on the two computers from his home, according to the press release.
Racine was arrested at his home Saturday morning and was being held at the Vanderburgh County Jail in lieu of $500 cash bond.
The child exploitation charges are all considered Class C felonies and possession of child pornography is classified as a Class D felony charge.
