PRINCETON-A day or fun for dogs and their human companions is planned from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. June 9 to benefit Gibson County Animal Services.
The fundraiser will take place at the property of Doggie Do Right dog trainers in Fort Branch and will feature a myriad of canine-related activities, demonstrations, a raffle, and food, and fun.
Featured at the event will be demonstrations on training, agility, and dock jumping. Agility demonstrations will be conducted by Pam Kruger and dock jumping demonstrations will be done by Jacob Schlottman.
There will also be contest for dogs to enter, including cutest dog, best trick, largest and smallest dog, and relay races, with prizes awarded to the winners.
Summer Baker, a certified canine massage therapist, will host a booth offering her services and dog baths will be offered all day for $10.
Face painting for children will also be offered and pizza will be available to purchase. And dogs can also look forward to homemade treats and frozen goodies.
Dogs attending must be kept on a leash and their vaccination must be current.
The shelter will also offer information on animals up for adoption.
Organizers have received donations from area businesses that will be used for the raffle. Items to be raffled will include gift certificates, clothing apparel, a cordless drill, jewelry, and more. Tickets will be sold for a chance to win these items.
Funds raised at the event will be used by the shelter for animal care including vaccinations for dogs and cats, new doors and locks for the facility, concrete for the dog runs, gravel and new fences. The shelter is also in need of a storage shed to hold food.
To get to Doggie Do Right, turn east onto CR 600 South off of U.S. 41 south of Toyota and follow the signs
Anyone interested in volunteering for the day should call Carrie Tichenor at 753-2318. Businesses interested in making a raffle donation are also encouraged to call.
Booth space is available for those interested in selling items. The fee for booth rental is $25, with those funds also going to benefit the shelter.
