PRINCETON - Sonja G. Alexander, 49, passed away Friday Oct. 30, 2009 at the Gibson General Hospital Skilled Nursing Facility in Princeton.

She was born Jan 5, 1960 in Princeton to Rollin and Gertrude (Carter) Greene.

She lived in Princeton most of her life having also lived in the Gary area. She graduated from Princeton Community High School in 1978 and worked in the admitting office at the Gibson General Hospital. She enjoyed traveling.

In 1979, she married Michael Alexander before moving to Gary, who survives.

Sonja is survived by two daughters, Carmen Alexander, Gwen (Matthew) Wilson, both of Princeton; her second mother who raised her, Anna Mae Alvis, of Princeton; seven grandchildren, Michael Alexander, Quinisha Green, La'Sonja Alexander-Scott, Aliyah Wilson, Brenna Wilson, Tanekka Alexander, Angel Alexander; three brothers, Darrell Carter and Derrick Greene of Fort Wayne, Paul Greene of Griffin; four sisters, Audrey Greene, of Indianapolis, Donzella "Hootie" Gilmore, Bonetta Carter and Raynetta Carter all of Fort Wayne; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Priscilla Greene; and brother, Vincent Greene.

Funeral services will at 1 p.m. Wednesday Nov. 4, 2009 at the Olive Branch Missionary Baptist Church in Princeton, with the Rev. Andrew Paris officiating. Burial will follow in the Sand Hill Cemetery in Princeton.

Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at Colvin Funeral Home in Princeton and 11 a.m. until service time at the church on Wednesday.

Memorial contributions may be made to the family in care of Colvin Funeral Home. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home. Condolences may be expressed on-line at www.colvinfunerahome.com.
