EVANSVILLE — Not from the outset, because for 23 seconds Oakland City basketball men led 6-5, but Evansville quickly showed the difference Saturday night between Division I and the vast majority of Division II teams.

Rebounding from a 55-52 Nov. 7 exhibition loss to Kentucky Wesleyan — “which has Division I players and is Division II in name only,” says Mike Sandifar — the Purple Aces beat the Mighty Oaks 92-66 in Roberts Stadium in each team’s season opener.
