Deputies shut down marijuana operation

Posted: Wednesday, December 6, 2006 12:00 am | Updated: 2:58 pm, Tue Jul 14, 2009.

A large marijuana growing operation in Boonville was shut down by the Warrick County Sheriff's Department on Friday, Dec. 1.

Narcotics detectives received information concerning the cultivation and sale of marijuana at the home of Darrell G. Wall, 36, of 813 S. 6th Street in Boonville.

Aided by the Boonville City Police, Wall was arrested after law enforcement officials issued the search warrant on the residence and reportedly uncovered 80 plants.

"This residence had been converted for the primary uses of growing, selling and using marijuana," said Sheriff Marvin Heilman. "There were 80 plants of various stages of growth and a considerable amount of packaged marijuana throughout the house. A portion of the house had been converted with sophisticated grow lights to aid the cultivation process."

Wall was charged with four drug-related felonies and one misdemeanor. The two most serious charges are class C felonies, punishable by up to eight years in prison and a $10,000 fine.

He was held at the Warrick County Jail on $500 bond.
